Results of the 2018 Medical Council of New Zealand election
The Medical Council of New Zealand (Council) today released the names of the four top polling candidates following its recent election.
The successful candidates are:
· Dr Stephen Child
· Dr Ainsley Goodman
· Dr Pamela Hale
· Dr Curtis Walker
Council’s returning officer and chief executive, Joan Simeon says that during March 2018, doctors voted to choose four doctors to be appointed to Council.
‘A total of 21 candidates with excellent skills and experience stood for election to Council,’ said Joan Simeon.
Two existing Council members, Drs Pamela Hale and Curtis Walker were re-elected.
Drs Jonathan Fox and Martin Searle, current elected Council members did not stand for re-election.
Joan Simeon, says the names of the four highest polling candidates have been forwarded to the Hon Dr David Clark, Minister of Health. New members will take up their positions for a 3-year term from July 2018.
