The HealthPathways Conference ‘24 is underway in Brisbane, Australia and will run from 8-10 May.

HealthPathways provides clinicians with quick access to the latest global evidence and best practice. It gives them instant guidance, including what questions to ask and what treatments are available. This is combined with hyper-local information on what specialist care is available for patients in their region.

What started as a simple online guide to help GPs assess and manage heart patients into specialist services in Canterbury is now a comprehensive tool for more than 600 conditions used by GPs, nurses, and other health professionals across 60 health systems who care for 35 million patients around Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.

The conference is a chance for members of the HealthPathways community, including programme managers, coordinators, clinical editors and executives to connect and collaborate.

Key topics to be explored this year include: improving health equity, creating and evaluating health system impact, sharing strategies for success and exploring how digital transformation and integration can change the face of healthcare.

Wales introduced HealthPathways nationally last year and reports reduced waiting lists and referrals. National Clinical Lead for Health & Care Pathways in Wales, Dr Alastair Roeves, will speak today about the challenges of getting new evidence and policy into frontline practice. This problem impacts patient health, creates unwanted variations in care, and wastes time and money. Dr Roeves will share experiences from Wales about how HealthPathways can positively impact health system development.

An expert panel will dive into leveraging community and technology to shape the future of health care systems. This panel will look at the rapid disruption of telemedicine and artificial intelligence and what it means for the HealthPathways community.
