The not-quite-$8 billion health budget review

Finance minister Grant Robertson’s first Budget, delivered on 17 May, saw Vote Health increased to $18.225 billion, second only to Vote Social Development ($24.284 billion) as a share of government spending.
The Budget commits to an additional $3.2 billion for health over four years, not quite the $8 billion signalled by the Government’s lead party, Labour, in its pre-election fiscal plan. The New Zealand Doctor team reports
