Health Minister Shane Reti will make the opening speech at this month’s Practice Managers and Administrators Association of New Zealand conference.

The conference, held at the Cordis Hotel in Auckland from Thursday 12 September to Saturday 14 September, has a packed programme, which also includes a separate receptionists’ programme for Saturday.

Dr Reti will give the first main speech of the day on Friday, while other speakers include The Casketeers star Francis Tipene from Tipene Funerals, RNZCGP president Samantha Murton and TV presenter Luke Bird.

The wide-ranging programme covers everything from paramedics and PAs in general practice to AI, burnout, de-escalating aggressive patients and protecting staff, emergency preparedness and presentations from sponsors Medtech and ManageMyHealth.

The meet-and-greet function will take place on Thursday evening, while the Casino Royale-themed dinner will close out the conference on Saturday night. Writing in a bulletin for New Zealand Doctor Rata Aotearoa earlier this year, PMAANZ conference convenor Jennifer Kaponga said these social and networking events form “the heart of the conference”.

The PMAANZ conference is in Auckland on 12-14 September at the Cordis Hotel. Visit New Zealand Doctor Rata Aotearoa at stand number 6, or say hello to one of our roving reporters, Stephen Forbes and Alan Perrott
