Recently the board of Health Navigator Charitable Trust and Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora met to discuss our joint aspirations for providing the best possible health information and resources for the public. We want to work together to build on what has already been done through the former district health boards and the Healthify He Puna Waiora website run by the trust.

To do this, we need more time to work out how we bring together our collective strengths. In the interim, the various funding contracts for the trust’s work including the Healthify He Puna Waiora website will roll over for 12 months from 1 July 2024.

“We hugely value the work of the team at Health Navigator Charitable Trust. It was encouraging to spend time with the board and explore opportunities to collaborate and work on the way forward. The confirmation of contracts for the near term is an important first step to put in place the longer-term foundation, and we have the right relationships in place to do that,” says Andrew Slater Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Chief People and Communications Officer.

Trust CEO Janine Bycroft says she is pleased to have reassurance that the work Health Navigator Charitable Trust has been doing for 15 years - providing trusted, easy to understand health information and resources to the people of Aotearoa New Zealand - can continue.
“The level of comfort is a relief and we are looking forward to working closely with Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora as it undergoes the task of consolidating DHB content and looking at ways we can assist," Dr Bycroft says.
