Green Cross Health welcomes Papakura East Medical Centre to its network of medical centres.

This grows their network to 64 practices supporting over 412,000 enrolled patients across Aotearoa making it the largest Medical Centre Network in the country.

Papakura East Medical Centre provides quality primary health care to a culturally diverse population community of Papakura East and the wider adjacent rural areas of Clevedon, Kawakawa Bay and Orere Point, Alfriston and Hunua.

The team consists of four GPs, three Physician Associates, five Registered Nurses and five administration staff.

Dr Dean Mackay and Dr Keith Holmes have been operating the practice for over 30 years and introduced many new innovations over that time to better serve their communities.

“We have found that overall, primary care is moving in the right direction since we started out in a converted house all those years ago. The way we manage patients and provide care has changed significantly” said Dr Holmes.

Dr Holmes added “New funding models lowering the cost barriers to access care was a game changer for us. The advent of better Practice Management Systems also has greatly enhanced our ability to manage different aspects from chronic care management through to preventive care and recall systems”.

Moving into a larger purpose-built medical centre in 2018 significantly improved patient amenities and flows, plus gave staff much greater professional satisfaction.

Wayne Woolrich, General Manager Medical at Green Cross Health says, “We learn and develop ourselves when we bring new people and ideas into our network and the team at Papakura East Medical Centre is the perfect example of this.”

“We know Green Cross Health and the medical centres who join us, jointly see the benefits of being part of a larger network. It has been really pleasing to have some of the leading medical centres in the country want to join us”
