The creation of new central health agency Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand on 1 July saw it acquire a workforce of around 80,000 people working in the public health system from day one. The structure of the new agency had been worked on by the Health and Disability Review Transition Unit and the interim board of Te Whatu Ora but more work was planned in the first three to six months, nutting out the structure. In the interim, a number of former senior health managers, including some former DHB chief executives, have taken on interim roles in the sector. For our 14 September print issue, we gathered together the then existing interim appointments and similar for Te Aka Whai Ora - Māori Health Authority with a view to providing an insight into the developing structures. From then on we have been updating the list as appointments become permanent or new roles are created. These roles are mostly senior roles and/or roles with a particular interest for primary care
