Tomorrow's final meeting of the Bay of Plenty DHB will be private affair. After New Zealand Doctor Rata Aotearoa contacted the board today for meeting details, we were advised it would be a shortened meeting "just closing off formalities and, as such, is a closed session".
Waikato DHB "board" also has a final meeting tomorrow in private, as have been all board meetings since a commissioner was appointed in May 2019.
Dame Karen Poutasi was put in place by former health minister David Clark who said at the time, in a media release, "installing a commissioner is a necessary step towards addressing the DHB’s deteriorating financial position, lack of strong governance, and ongoing performance issues with clinical services".
Dame Karen has two deputy commissioners, Chad Paraone and Margaret Wilson.
There are still two more meetings in the offing this week: Capital & Coast DHB has a joint meeting with Hutt Valley DHB tomorrow and on Thursday the West Coast DHB board is due to meet.
You can find details for joining these meetings on the following links:
22 June – Capital & Coast joint with Hutt Valley
23 June – West Coast
New Zealand Doctor asked interim Health New Zealand what will happen to DHB websites and the archives they contain after 30 June when the DHBs merge into Health NZ.
Interim Health NZ acting head of data and digital Shayne Hunter says, in a written statement: "DHB records and archives will remain in place for the foreseeable future. They are in effect being umbrellaed by Health NZ and therefore current processes and practices will continue. Where there are changes, any records would be appropriately stored for future access. Local websites would be looked at as part of the overall communications channel strategy."
Next week the following DHBs are set to have their final board meetings
27 June – Wairarapa
28 June – Tairāwhiti
28 June – Nelson Marlborough (Wairau)
29 June – Auckland
28 June – Hawke's Bay
28 June – MidCentral
30 June – Counties Manukau
