Third Age Health, New Zealand’s leader in health care services for older adults, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Peter Zink as its Medical Director.

Dr Zink is a specialist general practitioner and practice partner at Cornwall Medical Centre where he has been supporting the health of his community for more than 25 years, including providing GP services to aged residential care (ARC) facilities in central and south Auckland. He has a special interest in older people’s health holding a diploma in Geriatrics.

Tony Wai, Third Age Health CEO, says “We are thrilled to have Dr Zink onboard as our Medical Director and his contribution to supporting clinical quality will be crucial as we focus on improving the health and wellbeing of older people across New Zealand and build our clinical workforce.”

Third Age Health currently provides clinical services to the residents of 51 ARC facilities throughout the country with health care provided by a combined team of around 70, made up of both GPs and Nurse Practitioners. Dr Zink will have oversight of clinical quality and model of care design and implementation.

Dr Zink comments, “I’ve spent much of my career supporting the health needs of people in their senior years and it’s work I thoroughly enjoy, although it’s not without its challenges as it can be complex, but with the right clinical support it is very rewarding

With New Zealand’s aging population, it’s essential we’re attracting more clinicians to work in this area. I excited about the opportunity to develop a Third Age Health Clinical Advisory Group to work together to find new ways of working that support excellent care as well as strengthen and develop our aged care GP and Nurse Practitioner workforce.”
