The RPCA appoints a new president and vice president

The Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) is pleased to announce Associate Professor Bruce Latham as its new President, replacing Dr Michael Harrison who has completed his two year tenure in the role. In addition, Dr Michael Dray takes the position of the RCPA’s Vice President.

Chief Executive Officer, RCPA, Dr Debra Graves, said,

“The RCPA and I are absolutely delighted to welcome A/Prof Bruce Latham as the new President of the RCPA. Bruce is an invaluable member of the RCPA and a highly respected individual within the medical community. We look forward to working closely with him in his role.

“As we welcome Bruce into the position of President, we say farewell to Dr Michael Harrison whom we would like to thank for his ongoing dedication to the pathology profession and the important role he has played in maintaining the highest standards in pathology during his time as President.”

Newly appointed President of the RCPA, A/Prof Bruce Latham, said,

“I am honoured to be appointed as President of the RCPA and I look forward to continuing the hard work of Dr Harrison on behalf of the College. I look forward to providing continued support and guidance to the pathology profession.”

A/Prof Latham previously held the position of Vice President for two years from 2015-2017. Dr Dray was previously the New Zealand Vice President, a role which will now be filled by Dr Nicole Kramer until November 2018.

A/Prof Bruce Latham has worked as an Anatomical Pathologist in both the public and private sector and is currently an Anatomical Pathologist with PathWest at Fiona Stanley Hospital where he has a diagnostic and research interest in breast and pulmonary pathology.

Along with his continued support of the RCPA, A/Prof Bruce Latham’s comprehensive medical and pathology background includes his former position as Chair of the RCPAQAP Anatomical Pathology General Module Committee and Adjunct Associate Professor at Notre Dame University.

Dr Dray is a consultant pathologist in Hamilton for the Waikato DHB laboratory. He is a medical graduate of Otago University and spent his early years working in General Practice. He has just stood down as an Examiner in Anatomical Pathology for the RCPA. He is a member of the Bone and Joint research group at the University of Auckland where he is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer.
