The inconvenient truth - 'The medical system failed me...'
The inconvenient truth - 'The medical system failed me...'

It is time for the Government to listen to the voices of mamas, women, whānau and professionals. Our maternal health system is failing our women, our whānau and as a result our future generations.
We are calling on the government to ring-fence maternal health funding so that perinatal care becomes:
- Equitable
and
- Follows the choice and needs of all women
Mothers Matter is proud to release this series of advertisements that call those experiencing this system to raise their voices with us.
To tell us what change is needed.
We cannot ignore these voices. We are shining the light on the varied collective voice in New Zealand.
- 1/7 women in New Zealand experience postnatal depression
- NZ ranks 35th out of 41 developed countries for child wellbeing outcomes (UNICEF Innocenti Report)
- Maternal suicide in New Zealand is fives times higher per capita than that of the UK
- Over-representation of poor maternal outcomes for Māori and Pacific women
Take action with us now.
