To help keep Aotearoa safe, we need to increase COVID-19 vaccination rates for Māori.

As the country’s largest network of primary healthcare professionals, ProCare is working hard (alongside many others) to improve these numbers.

As part of our efforts, we have partnered with Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Hoani Waititi Marae to present a Live Korero on Facebook this Thursday at 3pm, between ProCare Maori GP Dr Lily Fraser (Kāi Tahu, Kāti Māmoe, Waitaha) from Turuki Health and Dr Mera Penehira (Ngāti Raukawa, Rangitaane and Ngai Te Rangi) from Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Hoani Waititi Marae.

The korero will speak to common whanau concerns and questions around the vaccine, and will give an opportunity for listeners to ask questions.

We invite you to please help us spread the word about this korero with your audiences, so that we can reach as many whanau as possible!

As ProCare Group CEO Bindi Norwell says: "It’s essential that we have a strong focus on equity and ensure that our most vulnerable populations have at the very least had their first COVID vaccination. Current data shows that only 41.1% of the eligible Māori population and 46.1% of the eligible Pacific population have had their first vaccine.

"This is compared to 62.4% of European/Other populations. By working together with organisations such as Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Hoani Waititi Marae, we hope to engage not only our own Maori patients (the largest enrolled Maori population in Tamaki Makaurau) but whanau far and wide across Aotearoa, on this incredibly important kaupapa."
