ProCare chief financial officer Tony Wai

Third Age Health is pleased to advise that, following a carefully executed search, we have identified a senior, experienced executive from within the healthcare sector, Tony Wai, to take over as CEO from Michael Haskell.

As Chair Bevan Walsh states, “Given the board’s understanding of the business and its needs, and with input from Michael, we had a deeply-considered wish list for his replacement.

“It is very important for our customers, patients, shareholders and our team, to have someone leading with the necessary vision, energy, relationship-building-skills, health system expertise, and specific experience.

“To that end, I am very pleased with our find in Tony Wai, who, having spent the last fourteen years in two major organisations within the health sector in New Zealand, in C-level roles including Chief Operations Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and more recently, interim CEO at Procare (responsible for over 800,000 patients), brings a wealth of experience, and vision for how we can better-serve our clients and patients.

“His experience in health-system technology, operational management, and acquisitions within the health sector are set to serve us well.”

Tony will start on 27 September 2021.

We welcome Tony to Third Age Health, and very much look forward to working with him.

Tony adds, “I’m grateful to the board for the opportunity and am excited to lead Third Age Health through its next phase of growth. Good health and a great quality of life is a right for all New Zealanders that I share with the Third Age Health team, our customers and those who are in their ‘later’ years. I’m passionate about making a positive sustainable difference and look forward to creating the opportunities that continue the success in this growing part of the health sector that also contributes shareholder value.”
