The Taranaki COVID-19 Vaccination Programme is aiming to vaccinate more than 3,000 Stratford residents in just one weekend.

A community vaccination clinic will be held on Friday 6 August and Saturday 7 August at the Stratford War Memorial Centre on Miranda Street from 9am, and anyone aged 16 and over can book an appointment. Another first dose clinic will be held on Friday 20 August and Saturday 21 August, meaning that more than 6,000 local appointments are available to those living in the Stratford district.

Follow up second dose clinics will be held in September – these appointments will be made automatically for people.

“We wanted to give people who live in rural areas the opportunity to get their COVID-19 vaccination without having to travel to New Plymouth or Hawera, and so we decided to hold a community event,” says Rachel Court, Taranaki COVID-19 Vaccination Programme operations lead.

“Anyone living in the Stratford district aged 16 and over who has not already received a vaccination, or who does not have an appointment booked already, can come along and be immunised.”

To book an appointment at the community event, people can call 0800 28 29 26 and quote the access code BD8SUD5QH3

From July 28, the BookMyVaccine online booking portal (www.bookmyvaccine.nz) will be going live, and Stratford district residents will be able to make an appointment for themselves using the same access code.

People can book for other family members aged 16 and over at the same time as making their own appointment.

Invitations are still being sent out for those in Group 3 containing a different access code for the New Plymouth and Hawera clinics – anyone in Stratford receiving an invite can choose which clinic they would like to attend and use the corresponding code.

“The programme team is really looking forward to bringing this vaccination event to Stratford, meeting community members and administering the COVID-19 vaccinations that will help protect them, their families and the entire district,” says Rachel.
