The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners has today opened its triannual funding round for research that benefits general practice. This is the first funding round of the year.
Applications are welcomed from Fellows and non-Fellows of the College, with grants typically in the range of $5K - $20K for individual applications, although up to $40K can be awarded.
Applications from organisations and groups will also be reviewed but individual grants will be given precedence.
The College is looking for applications that reflect the five key areas of the College’s Statement of Strategic intent (Te Rautaki):
- Supporting our members
- Becoming a contemporary and sustainable organisation
- Improving health equity in New Zealand
- Education excellence
- Quality general practices.
Previous successful applications have included research into diabetes management and primary care, rural placements of health professionals, a clinician survey of STI management methods, the impact of Health and Disability Commission complaints and investigations and bullying in the GP workforce.
Applications close on Wednesday, 17 March 2021 with the Research and Education Committee (REC) considering a maximum of 15 applications at a meeting in early April.
