Kakariki Medical Centre has 18 staff, seven are prescribers, the remaining 11 are working in a range of clinical and non-clinical roles. At work, all team members use the practice internet IP address, on their work computers or phones.
After purchasing a group subscription, all 18 staff can read New Zealand Doctor Rata Aotearoa, at work, on their preferred device – no password is required.
Three newspapers are also delivered to the workplace, every fortnight, for shared team use. Seven people on the site also elect to have a named online account, accessing New Zealand Doctor on their phone or their desktop when they are not at work.
Some use the personalised Capture function to complete a learning/reading log for their continuing professional development portfolio.
An invoice is sent to the practice manager for $945 based on seven prescribers at $135 per prescriber, excluding GST. A pro-rata credit for the subscriptions already held is applied to the new Practice Group Subscription, and these are cancelled.
Every six months, a customer service officer from The Health Media contacts Kakariki Medical Centre and checks to see if any staff have left (or started), and the subscription is amended without charge.
