Harbour Cancer and Wellness open new clinic in Newmarket

On Wednesday 27 March, 90 stakeholders gathered to celebrate the opening of a new cancer treatment clinic and wellness centre in Newmarket, Auckland.
Harbour Cancer and Wellness is an Auckland-based private oncology practice with a clinic on the North Shore and now in Newmarket. The new clinic will become a centre for clinical trials and holistic cancer treatments.
Harbour was founded in 2017 by oncologists who met in the public system. They saw an unmet need for integrated care for patients with cancer.
“Inefficiencies and constraints were limiting our ability to practice our values and achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients, which is something we care deeply about.
We saw the improvement in outcomes that was achieved internationally by holistic care – including diet, exercise, and physiotherapy - as part of the cancer treatment process. That holistic approach, combined with the ability to access the latest and best worldwide drugs, became the raison d'être for Harbour Cancer and Wellness.” Says Gareth Rivalland.
Harbour Cancer and Wellness was the first private oncology centre to run clinical trials in New Zealand - making new drugs available to kiwis who would otherwise not have access.
The opening of the Newmarket clinic will facilitate an expansion of the clinical trials programme to cover more patients with a variety of cancers.
