Dunedin Hospital in recovery phase following lifting of boil water notice

The Southern DHB’s Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) remains open while it works through a recovery phase following the lifting of the boil water notice issued by the DCC for the central Dunedin area, which included Dunedin Hospital.
“Our Building and Property are working hard to drain and refill the hospital’s water tanks, and they expect this process to be completed overnight. It’s business as usual at the hospital over the weekend, and we hope to be fully operational with elective surgery by 8am on Monday morning.
“We’d like to thank the public for their understanding and patience whilst we’ve been dealing with this boil water notice, and above all our fantastic staff who as usual, have gone above and beyond their duties to ensure our patients are cared for safely,” said Southern DHB EOC Incident Controller, Jenny Hanson.
Public Health South’s monitoring of gastroenteritis still shows that there has not been any increase in gastroenteritis in the Dunedin area.
