Cambridge’s first MRI machine arrives at River Radiology

Cambridge residents awaiting an MRI scan can say goodbye to lengthy waiting times and out-of-town travel, thanks to River Radiology.
River Radiology Cambridge has recently introduced local MRI services to the Cambridge community with its new state-of-the-art GE 3.0 Tesla scanner.
Founder and Managing Radiologist Dr Peter Gendall said the MRI scanner performs high-resolution scans in minutes whilst patients can relax in a comfortable environment.
Dr Gendall said the MRI room has been specifically designed to put patients at ease and reduce the need for sedation.
“We worked with the talented team at Point B Strategic Marketing to create an innovative custom design for the MRI room, which features New Zealand flora and fauna, and a touch of whimsy, which we think our patients will absolutely love,” said Gendell.
The team at River Radiology has over 30 years’ experience with MRI technology, bringing the highest quality imaging available to the town.
“Being able to offer MRI facilities in Cambridge is a game-changer for the community, allowing urgent reports to be made available immediately, and eliminating the need for people to travel to Hamilton for their scans.”
Dr Gendall’s experience in working with elite sportsmen and women across all sport codes, including sports medicine and high-performance sports will be a welcome addition to the town, known as the Home of Champions.
River Radiology’s new MRI facility, located on 1913 Cambridge Road, is on course to become available from 16 December 2024, with patients able to request River Radiology when visiting their GP or receiving a specialist referral.
