Support is available in Taranaki libraries for those who need help to book an appointment for their COVID-19 vaccination.
The regular sessions will be manned by volunteers from the community.
“We know that some people are finding it hard to navigate the technology needed to book an appointment online, so we launched this initiative to help them,” says Rachel Court, Taranaki’s COVID-19 Vaccination programme operations lead.
“All people will need is their name and address and we will be able to assist.”
The service can also advise people when it is their turn to book an appointment.
NPDC Puke Ariki Library Manager Dyane Hosler says Puke Ariki and the Community Libraries are proud to be involved in this Taranaki DHB initiative. “Libraries are now community hubs, and this is just another service we can offer our communities.”
Cath Sheard, Kaihautū Puna Mātauranga me te Ratonga Ahurea Libraries and Cultural Services Manager at South Taranaki District Council says “The South Taranaki LibraryPlus are pleased to be working with Taranaki DHB to assist people with booking COVID- 19 vaccinations; our libraries are passionate about ensuring equity of access and this is one more way we can enable our residents.”
Bridget Roper, Team Leader Stratford Library and Visitor Information Centre, says, “Digital accessibility issues shouldn’t be a barrier to community members taking the steps required to protect themselves against Covid-19.
