Andy Dixon Shorecare 2021

Shorecare is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Andrew (Andy) Dixon, MB ChB FRNZCUC, as their Clinical Director. He brings a wealth of experience from both community and hospital based settings, having worked in urgent care since 1995 in New Zealand and Qatar.

After graduating from the University of Auckland in 1993, Dr Dixon was soon attracted to the urgent care specialty due to the diverse range of acute medical conditions and pathologies encountered and is particularly interested in acute orthopaedic and sports medicine. He was the Medical Director of three urgent care clinics in Auckland before moving to work in the Emergency Department at North Shore Hospital as a Senior Medical Officer in 2002. He became a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of Urgent Care in 2001. In 2009 he moved to Qatar to work at a hospital specializing in treating acute medical and orthopaedic conditions in elite athletes. Since returning to New Zealand in 2019 he has been working at Shorecare as an Urgent Care Practitioner.

As well as his extensive work experience, he brings energy and enthusiasm to the role and is committed to continuous quality improvement. Dr Dixon is excited by his new role and “the opportunity to lead a group of enthusiastic, committed, and skilled team members in an evolving medical field”. He hopes to “continue the progressive and innovative work that has been undertaken to date and build upon the existing wonderful team culture” and would like Shorecare to be viewed as “the premier provider of urgent care services in our community and an employer of choice”.
