Health has a high profile in Parliament with legislation regarding medicinal cannabis and end-of-life care currently at various stages in the legislative process. The Government’s Misuse of Drugs (Medicinal Cannabis) Amendment Bill has passed its first reading and has gone on to select committee stage. ACT MP David Seymour’s End of Life Choice Bill, which would legalise euthanasia under certain conditions, is also at the select committee stage, with public submissions open until 20 February.
