From Zach: 2024 was a year of trepidation for many communities as they felt the impact of the inevitable shake-ups that come with a new Government. Stripping commissioning powers from Whaikaha – Ministry of Disabled People came as a particularly huge shock to the disability advocates I spoke to, and to myself as someone with lived experience. I spoke to Tania Kingi in September about the challenges that faced the ministry from its inception.
