Adult travellers who are pregnant, breastfeeding or immunocompromised frequently challenge our skills, as do child travellers. But with good resources and a systematic approach, most can still be dealt with in primary care, while the very challenging should be referred to a practitioner with more expertise
Ideally, doctors would see the more challenging traveler sooner rather than later – when travel is being planned.
