There is “amazing, incredible” and “amazing, shocking”. For general practice, events of 2021 fell all along that spectrum. Whether it was the amazing, incredible COVID-19 response provided by general practice and Māori and Pacific health services in an almost vacuum of support from officialdom, or the amazing, unbelievable tangles ensuing as care in the community rolled out, it was all complicated and complex – literally, a maze.
