Leading Albany-based practice Apollo Medical has joined the Green Cross Health network from 1 October 2021.

“We are excited to have Apollo join us, and we welcome the team to our network,” says Wayne Woolrich, General Manager Medical at Green Cross Health.

Representing the group of 7 owners, Jan-Paul Mowat, Chairman of the Board at Apollo said, “We chose to partner with Green Cross Health because their values aligned with ours which was important when we talked about exiting the business. We are looking forward to the support they will provide our patients, our healthcare team and our wider community. With their healthcare, management and recruitment expertise, IT support and bulk-buying power we anticipate our partnership with Green Cross will be a win for all of us. We are also looking forward to having a greater voice within the healthcare sector through belonging to a larger General Practice Group.”

Mary Baldwin, CEO at Apollo Medical Centre says, “The team at Green Cross Health have been great to deal with so far, I’m looking forward to developing that relationship.” Mary Baldwin, a Registered Nurse with extensive experience in management and leadership roles in the New Zealand Health sector, has been leading the practice for the past eleven years.

Apollo Medical Centre is a thriving North Shore practice with over 19,000 enrolled patients and a large medical team of 13 doctors and 8 nurses.

Woolrich says “It’s great to see big, successful practices choosing to go our way, we have a lot to offer owners who are looking to sell”.

“Apollo are a wonderfully run practice and they have a great team there supporting the community which we know will continue as normal under Mary’s leadership.”

Green Cross Health also recently acquired Wakatipu Medical Centre which has two clinics based in Frankton and Lower Shotover. This takes their network to 50 medical centres supporting 317,000 enrolled patients across the country.
