The Federation of Primary Health Aotearoa New Zealand (the Federation), whose purpose includes being the voice of primary health care for the health, well-being and benefit of all New Zealanders, has announced a further tranche of new member organisations.

Confirming the latest 13 members, Dame Annette King, Chair of the Establishment Board said “This latest group application through General Practice New Zealand is a significant vote of confidence in the work of the Federation’s Establishment Board and the membership offering they have developed.”

The latest new members of the Federation bring the total number of member organisations up to 39 and include PHOs encompassing General Practice services to some 3.7 million enrolled New Zealanders.

Chair of GPNZ, Dr Jeff Lowe, emphasised his personal commitment to the long-held goal of sector unity “GPNZ’s aim has been to see the primary health sector united in its responsibilities to our communities. This latest move, which brings the voice of organised general practice into the Federation, alongside such important multi-professional sector partners, takes us a significant step nearer seeing that aim come to fruition. I am thrilled to be able to provide my own continued support to that journey.”
