New Northland DHB board member announced

Minister of Health Tony Ryall has announced the appointment of Mr Gregory (Greg) Gent to the Northland District Health Board (DHB)  

Mr Gent will begin his position on 26 July 2010, filling a vacancy following statutory retirement of a board member.

Northland DHB Chair Tony Norman said: "It gives me the greatest pleasure to welcome Greg to the Board.  Based in Ruawai, Greg will be well known to many Northlanders and his strong governance and operational experience will be highly valued by the Board."  "He will bring another business dynamic to the board table.

Greg Gent is Chairman of FMG Insurance Ltd and has been a Fonterra Board member since its formation.  He also chairs the Farm Development Governance Board and sits on a number of committees.

Mr Gent will be formally introduced to other members and given an introduction to the DHB's work and strategic priorities at the next Board meeting on 9 August 2010.
